Grass and grass silage

Grasslands play a major role in global agriculture, accounting for approximately 70 per cent of the world agricultural land area and 26 per cent of total land area (FAO, 2012). They vary greatly in their degree and intensity of management, ranging from extensively managed rangelands and savannahs to intensively managed continuous pasture and hay land (Verchot et al., 2006).
