ABSTRACT

Inter-professional implications arise from at least four main issues from the user viewpoint. First, as Helen Evers and her colleagues point out in this publication, for old and disabled people a coordinated inter-agency and inter-professional approach is required, above all, to respond to diverse and complex needs. While health and welfare professionals may variously be attempting to work together, the place of the informal carer remains isolated. Annie Bibbings’ chapter significantly concludes that, while carers are still plugging the gaps that exist in communication and coordination between professional groups, carers still remain taken for granted by the caring professions.
