Evidence From Language Bursts, Revision, and Transcription for Translation and Its Relation to Other Writing Processes

As Fayol, Alamargot, and Berninger point out in Chapter 1, translation—changing one form into another—can happen in many ways. A sketch can be translated into a painting. An idea can be translated into gestures, buildings, equations, or music. In this chapter, I will focus on the process of translating ideas into text and how that process is related to other writing processes.
