ABSTRACT

A commitment to proactive management of biodiversity and ecosystem services in business starts with corporate governance and more informed decision making. This implies the integration of BES into business risk and opportunity management, information management and accounting systems. These systems need to support analysis and decision making at multiple levels, including site/project level, group level and product level. BES information is needed for both internal and external reporting. It is important to measure and report on internal processes, but these alone are not sufficient to inform decisions by internal managers or other stakeholders regarding actions and likely consequences.
