ABSTRACT
Post–Second World War architects worked extensively in southern Italy—although they were not rebuilding a landscape devastated by war. The many sources of funds that were available in Italy at this time (for example, national reconstruction funds and Marshall funds) were channeled into building better housing for poverty-stricken areas as well as for areas with premodern living conditions, which described much of the South as well as many other parts of Italy.
