ABSTRACT

Because of the importance of trade patterns for Mexico and China, it is critical to analyze some of the factors that define them, both for their dynamics and potential. Both economies have undergone a significant trade opening process in recent years: in Mexico’s case, due to its entry into the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which opened its trade with the US and Canada in 1994, and, in China’s case, because of its entry into the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 2001.
