ABSTRACT

It is not a question of if, but rather of when a school will be required to respond to a crisis. For example, it is impossible to prevent natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and floods. In addition, while much can be done to prevent other types of crises, such as school violence, it seems unlikely that we can prevent all such events. Consequently, school crisis response preparedness is required (Brock, Sandoval, & Lewis, 2001).
