ABSTRACT
While being engaged in a highly interdisciplinary research centre for the study of ritual dynamics, we have come to see that psychology — and motivational psychology in particular — has its place at the research table along with anthropological, sociological, linguistic, historical and other area-specific disciplines. We all benefit from each other’s expertise and exchange ideas as we try to understand the elusive nature of ritual over space and time.
