ABSTRACT

We, the editors, are hopeful that Healing War Trauma has provided a meaningful array of creative approaches to healing war trauma. These approaches, of course, are only a sampling. We hope that there will be other books that describe yet additional creative approaches. Some that come quickly to mind include:

Mantra-based meditations.

Yoga and massage therapy.

Sports for physically disabled veterans.

Gardening/farming for veterans.

Non-chemical approaches for chronic pain management, such as acupuncture.

Retreats in Buddhist monasteries or other spiritual places.

Veterans returning to former battlefields (Scurfield, 2004, 2006).

Veterans meeting and engaging with veterans of other countries, such as the number of interchanges between Soviet Afghani veterans and Vietnam veterans in the 1980s and 1990s (Scurfield, 2004).
