ABSTRACT

In the past few years, the literature on Black men in higher education has grown at a great rate. Scholars, including Michael Cuyjet, Shaun R. Harper, Terrell L. Strayhorn, Robert T. Palmer, Jerlando Jackson, and Fred Bonner, II have written extensively on the subject. Many of our questions around issues of success and high achieving Black men have been answered due to the deep and consistent work of these scholars and others. In fact, given the resources that most possess, we would argue that a preponderance of majority institutions, in particular, have little excuse for the underperformance of the Black men that they enroll.
