ABSTRACT

This book provides an original perspective on the contentious challenges in conducting educational and social research. It does this through a series of case studies of multidisciplinary and mixed-method research involving children, teachers, schools and communities in Pakistan and UK. Contributors from a range of disciplines including anthropology, sociology, education, economics, health and social care and human geography share firsthand experience of using multidisciplinary and mixed-method approaches in educational settings and provide reflections on their application, usefulness and limitations in varying contexts. The book is primarily aimed at researchers, but will also be valuable for policymakers and professionals engaged in social policy, many of whom commission and/or use research and need to develop their understanding of the complexities and sensitivities involved.
