ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses issues of methodology together with aspects of my approach to a particular research project investigating the perceptions and experiences of male and female teachers working with young children. The main focus is an exploration and review of the process of interviewing, which was the primary method of data collection used. The work is located within the qualitative research paradigm within which I take up a feminist, post-structuralist position. In short, the purposes of this chapter are to
Describe the research context
Outline overall methodology
Consider the experience of interviewing as a research tool
Review the process in relation to relevant literature
Identify, through reflection, factors relevant to my continued use of this method
