ABSTRACT
Some 200 governmental experts met in Paris, 19-24 April 1999, to discuss and negotiate a Draft Convention on the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage. This was the second such meeting. It represented a further step in a process designed to establish a legal and administrative regime whereby underwater cultural heritage beyond the territorial sea of States would be treated in accordance with agreed international standards.
