ABSTRACT
The construction industry is characterized by a high level of resource consumption and significant generation of pollution and waste compared with other service sectors. Numerous environmental programs to address individual environmental impacts have already been established by national authorities, however a more systematic and holistic approach still remains to be developed by the industry itself. Industrial ecology has the potential to provide a framework for such wider coordination, and to address the issues in a more comprehensive way.
