ABSTRACT

In 1974 it was agreed to abandon the old Bakgatla National School (Fig. 16.1) on Phuthadikobo Hill, in Mochudi, Botswana. The building was in a poor state of repair, without room for expansion, and with insufficient space for toilets, football ground, or garden. It was difficult for the children to walk up the hill each day to school. During 1974-5 a new primary school was constructed elsewhere in Mochudi, and in August 1975 the pupils were transferred to the new building.
