ABSTRACT

Casualties from accidents and violent delinquent behaviour constitute an important problem in Mexican public health. Deaths from accidents and injuries (accidental or intentional) are among the main causes of all deaths and affect age groups considered highly productive (Secretaría de Programación y Presupuesto 1980). Presumably, there are more cases of violent behaviour and accidents that do not lead to death, but which cause disabilities to individuals and considerable losses to society.
