ABSTRACT
In so important a matter as the selection of a site for a county asylum the reports of county surveyors and the judgement of county magistrates is not always to be depended upon. The law places the ultimate responsibility in the hands of the Commissioners [in Lunacy], they have sometimes decided upon reports which have not proved trustworthy.1
