Growing Up in Care

In 1970, the Children’s Officer of what was then a local authority’s children’s department organised a series of discussions between ten young adults who had spent the whole or a significant part of their first eighteen years in the care of the authority. She taped the meetings, which were held monthly for about a year, and used them as the basis for a book Growing up in Care, from which the following material is taken.
