ABSTRACT
A relatively large number of empirical studies evaluating the impacts of the Brazilian trade liberalization of the 1990s are already available. This chapter presents a detailed review of this literature and highlights the main conclusions that can be derived from it, relative to the effects of those reforms on GDP growth, employment, income distribution and poverty. By way of introduction, we consider some data relating to Brazilian trade reforms.
