ABSTRACT
From birth the processes of sex differentiation occur through which appropriate and expected yet different behaviours may be learnt by each sex. The ways in which sport, physical activities and physical education provide informal and formal sites in which gender identities are constructed, reinforced and, on occasions, challenged are examined in this chapter.
