ABSTRACT

Babette Deutsch (b. 1895), poet, critic, and writer for children, is a Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, and taught poetry at Columbia University from 1944 to 1971. Author of several volumes of verse, she has also published translations of Alexander Blok, Puskhin, and Rilke. ‘The Collected Poems of Babette Deutsch’ appeared in 1969.
