ABSTRACT
Levin (b. 1912) became Irving Babbitt Professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard University in 1960. His books include ‘The Overreacher: A Study of Christopher Marlowe’ (1952), ‘The Power of Blackness: Hawthorne, Poe, Melville’ (1958), and ‘The Question of Hamlet’ (1959).
