ABSTRACT

After several years as a freelance literary journalist and broadcaster in London, Fraser (1915–80) took up university lecturing in his early forties and in 1964 became Reader in Modern English Literature at the University of Leicester. His publications include ‘The Traveller has Regrets and Other Poems’ (1948), ‘The Modern Writer and His World’ (1953, revised ed 1964), ‘Vision and Rhetoric: Studies in Modern Poetry’ (1959), and ‘Lawrence Durrell: A Study’ (1968).
