ABSTRACT
Kermode (b. 1919) has been King Edward VII Professor of English Literature, and a Fellow of King’s College, Cambridge University, since 1974. His books include ‘Romantic Image’ (1957), ‘The Sense of an Ending’ (1967), ‘The Classic’ (1975), and ‘The Genesis of Secrecy’ (1979).
