Ben Belitt on ‘Farce for the Salon', from Rugby and the Tragic Muse, ‘Nation'

Ben Belitt (b. 1911) was Assistant Literary Editor of the ‘Nation’, 1936–7, and became a Professor of the Department of Literature and Languages at Bennington College, Vermont, in 1938. In addition to numerous translations from the works of Pablo Neruda, he is the author of ‘A Preface to Translation’ (1978).
