ABSTRACT
Before analysing the relationship between global capitalism and what has been coined as ‘gender’ I want to spell out my critique regarding the use of certain concepts in this chapter. The first focuses on the concept ‘development’ which is used as a key concept in the title of this book. The second critique deals with the concept of gender, used since the early 1970s.
