ABSTRACT

It is interesting that the overview, the archaeologist’s perspective, is beyond an individual’s conceptual time frame, whereas the investigation by the Aboriginal person is concerned with what is chronologically almost a single event. The Aboriginal person in this instance is interested in examining an aspect of midden deposition, with a view to demonstrating the continuity of resource exploitation patterns over many thousands of years. The archaeologist is concerned with variation in land-use patterns, in terms of long-term changes taking place in a period beyond the conceptual framework of the event.
