ABSTRACT
In November 1984 the Native Education Project Team was established by the Alberta Department of Education. Its mandate was to develop a Native Education Policy to guide the development and delivery of education to aboriginal students (Alberta Education, Native Education Project 1985a). The project team was responsible for evaluating all learning resources dealing with Native topics intended for use in the classroom. Under the auspices of the Native Learning Resources Project, the team was given the task of coordinating the development of learning resources that would reflect indigenous history and culture from the Native perspective.
