ABSTRACT

Archaeological research in Colombia has thrived in the past four decades, as shown by the wide regional and temporal coverage it has achieved and the continuous flow of publications from the region (also see Delgado Ceron & Mz-Recaman 1994; Ramírez 1994; Reyes 1994). And new theories and methodologies are constantly being applied to the ever-increasing data from our surveys. Nevertheless, there are areas of the country distant from large economic centres or dangerous to work in because of social disorder that have received little attention in research programmes.
