Correcting constraints to private enterprise development: lessons from a private sector survey

The impressive growth of the private economy in China in recent years has occurred despite the existence of significant constraints. This chapter discusses some of these constraints and the issues related to their removal. It relies heavily on the survey of private enterprises in China by Garnaut et al. (2001).
