ABSTRACT

Oil and gas developments in Scotland have resulted in significant economic, social and physical changes in the last 10 years, primarily between 1970 and 1975:60 000 jobs created; 2000 hectares of land developed; the lifestyle of 14 communities affected. Such developments have special characteristics: diverse nature of projects, dispersed locations, speed and uncertainty of development; the need for collaboration and cooperation; often working near the forefront of technology.
