ABSTRACT

In focusing on the nuclear power plant as a sociotechnical system, the third part of this volume directs attention to the two subsystems that operate at the ‘sharp end’ of the production process: the team and the individual. Nishijima collects and describes indicators for human performance in nuclear power plants. Job demands in nuclear power plants are seen as a key condition for the occurrence of human error. Fleishman and Buffardi investigate this connection, with the aim of improving the prediction of human error probabilities at the workplace.
