ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a self-analysis grid for teacher to use in analysing his/her needs for professional development in the area of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). The standards of effective ICT deployment achieved in the leading schools today will become the standards of acceptable practice in the bulk of schools. A national priority is to train teachers in the effective use of ICT. Through the use of ICT, the teacher will increasingly be able to nd information about resources related to teachers' professional development across all subject areas. Pedagogic knowledge about ICT applications to the teacher's area of work is a vital element of his/her professional repertoire, but there are a number of factors that can have an impact on his/her capability in using ICT in classrooms. Primary student teachers were required to have ICT training in maths, science and English, as well as their specialist subject.
