ABSTRACT

When a workplace is altered, for example due to the introduction of a new system of work or equipment, the resulting effect could be to create both good and bad influences on performance, which will consequently tend to change the safety of the workplace. Some aspects of a change may improve performance but may also cause stressors that could decrease performance. Under such circumstances, the overall injury or accident rates may not change but the types of accidents or injuries that result could be affected, with consequences for necessary remediation actions.
