ABSTRACT
Safety climate has become a popular concept. It has been given all kinds of positive attributes such as helping to understand employee performance, assuring success in injury control and providing guidelines in the establishment of a safety policy (Brown and Holmes, 1986; Mattila et al., 1994a). However, there is no specific definition of the concept and as such no clear guidelines for measurement of the concept exist.
