ABSTRACT
International communication has become much easier and it continues to become faster and accessible for many more people. The Internet and other new means of communication will make it very easy to exchange news and to transfer experiences from one country to another. Multinational companies and consulting firms use international benchmarking in an endeavour towards excellence in management and production. Best practices are sought internationally also in occupational health and safety. It is tempting to rely on a formula that has some demonstrated benefits in another country, industrial sector or company. Mistakenly, we transfer formulas from country to country without considering any potential barriers.
