GAS MEASUREMENT—THE NEED AND THE REALITY book
There is a need today to improve the level of precision of gas measurement practices. Over the past several years, industry has committed millions of dollars in research in the basic technology area. Tomorrow's measurement engineer will need a sound base in fluid dynamics and mathematics with a little computer science thrown in. Back in the "olden days" the standard tool of the engineer was a slide rule. The slide rule disappeared with advent of the hand held calculator; which in turn has been sub-planted by the personal computer. Everyone develops a better understanding of the basic fluid dynamics of gaseous flow through various meters through the development of computer models that can be verified by non-intrusive devices. An International Measurement Symposium, under the joint sponsorship of many of the organizations, both national and international, is scheduled to be held in fall of 1986.
