Are we the same or are we different? A social- psychological perspective of culture

This chapter introduces a teaching tool that illustrates “culture” through the eyes of social psychologists. In doing so, we will first define culture, then use the Twenty Statements Test (TST) to illustrate the theoretical and methodological intricacies of this conceptualization. The TST has long been useful in research; but we believe that the TST is a promising instrument for teaching as well, particularly given this individually based perspective on culture.
