ABSTRACT

Margaret Benston teaches jointly in the Computing Science Department and the Women’s Studies Program at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, and does research on women and technological change. Her publications include ‘The political economy of women’s liberation’ (article in the Monthly Review), ‘Feminism and the critique of scientific method’ and ‘The myth of computer literacy’ (in Canadian Women’s Studies). She has been active in the women’s movement since 1968, including participation in a feminist singing group that teaches feminist, labor and anti-war songs to anyone interested.
