ABSTRACT
The NEDC Construction Industry Sector Group is the only body that represents the entire scope of construction and related activity in the United Kingdom. It has identified and redressed the lack of leadership within the industry by establishing a Working Party to investigate CAD data and other information exchange.
The Working Party’s findings show that the introduction and encouragement of CAD data and information exchange practices offers substantial opportunity to rationalise the way projects are managed to the benefit of all participants, and at substantially lower overall cost.
The background considerations and some of the practical measures implemented to assist the UK building industry come to terms with its future are described.
