ABSTRACT

Change is a pervasive fact for the professional firm. This paper considers the positive and negative aspects of change. Ultimately a balanced view is suggested, although in the current climate it seems inevitable that firms should be open to change.

The driving forces for change and the factors that can be changed within the firm, namely: structure, technology and people, are considered with particular emphasis on people. It is argued that it is important to view change as a process rather than an event. Continued effort is required.
