ABSTRACT
So, you’ve put all this hard work into formulating your research question, into gathering your data, analysing it and developing your discussion of the findings, all embedded carefully in the literature. You’ve written it out beautifully as a coherent and well argued narrative, and submitted it proudly. Your supervisor, after discussing the matter with you, has carefully selected the examiners, and you have tactfully taken care to include a discussion of their work in your literature review. Now you’re all set to submit the thesis, and sail to glory. And then back come the examiners’ reports: one outright pass, one calling for minor changes to the library copy and one ‘revise and resubmit’. Oh, those dreaded words, ‘revise and resubmit’!
