ABSTRACT
This chapter will provide a basic introduction to the area of medico-legal report writing. Throughout the chapter a suggested template or format for the construction of a medico-legal report will be suggested. Each of the constituent areas of the report will be explored, allowing the reader to develop a feel for how a medico-legal report is constructed. The process of appearing in Court, as an expert witness will then be outlined. Whilst this chapter will help to provide an introductory overview of the area I would strongly advise any therapist intending to undertake work preparing court reports as an expert witness to undertake an appropriate training course.
