ABSTRACT

Anyone who has solved a difficult problem is well aware of the different emotions experienced while performing the task. Surprisingly, in the framework of thinking and reasoning research, emotions are still neglected. For instance, in The Cambridge Handbook of Thinking and Reasoning, edited in 2005 by Holyoak and Morisson, with the exception of one chapter focused on the motivational aspects of cognition (Molden & Higgins, 2005), no chapter is dedicated to the reciprocal relationship between cognition and emotion.
