ABSTRACT
In a filmmaking career that stretched from the early 1920s through the 1950s, David O. Selznick produced some of Hollywood’s most celebrated films, including King Kong (1933), Gone with the Wind (1939), Rebecca (1940), Since You Went Away (1944), and Duel in the Sun (1946). In early 1949, two newspaper articles confronted the renowned producer’s influence in film music and offered startlingly different conclusions.
