ABSTRACT

Owen: In our previous session, Mark Kingwell brought up the term “duty.” Duty seemed, in his formulation, to be an essential component of citizenship, and he called for a new definition of “citizenship” within the cyborg polis. Garry Stevens suggested that duty was associated with privilege. Duty, or at least the appearance of fulfilling duty, could only be afforded by those in the upper echelons of the profession. Geoffrey Harpham suggested that this was a matter for the individual to decide.
