ABSTRACT

IT HAS CREATED A NEW PARADIGM for business operations. IT has influenced the value chain of firms, marketing strategies, and internal communication within organizations, and customer-supplier relations. Most of these issues have been analyzed both from practical application and from theoretical dimension. Yet, the IT revolution has received little systematic analysis from a global perspective. It is often assumed that the domestic evaluation of the impact of IT can be generalized to the experiences of global companies and to their international operations. There are, however, specific aspects that must be considered in regard to the interaction between IT and IB when examined from a global context. This chapter takes a conceptual approach and analyzes the way IT has impacted the internationalization process of multinational enterprises (MNEs).
