ABSTRACT
One can say that until now folklore has been studied primarily as a ‘picturesque’ element. Folklore should instead be studied as a ‘conception of the world and life’ implicit to a large degree in determinate (in time and space) strata of society and in opposition (also for the most part implicit, mechanical and objective) to ‘official’ conceptions of the world.
