ABSTRACT
For the final session there were no speakers billed in the programme and no background notes with quotations to guide the discussion along particular lines. It was time for the jury to decide, or rather the many different juries, for a feature of the weekend had been the way in which many small groups had gathered together in the Young Vic’s coffee bar and in the pubs around Waterloo Road to discuss Shakespeare as if he really were their contemporary.
