ABSTRACT
Until 1989, training as a group analyst in the United Kingdom was available only in London, and access to training was limited to those within reach of the metropolis. In 1989 a new course of training was established in Manchester to open up training to candidates from any part of the UK. This was achieved by adopting a ‘block’ structure based upon training schemes established in many European countries.
